Bringing our project to life was a dream come true. Both my wife and I are from Gorj, and we bet on returning to traditions when we could remain townspeople. But I had a dream and I brought it to life in memory of my grandparents: in their orchard, at the foot of the mountains, in Baia de Fier commune, I built three traditional Romanian houses.
Our wish was - not to have a holiday home, but to share the story with everyone who crosses our doorstep. If I had to choose the most emotional moment of our project, it is when we gave names, and not numbers, to our rooms: Iconia lu'Aurel, Aurel al lu'Ionica, Lina lu' Ionel, Ionel a lu' Lera, Tata Ion al lu'Bija, Tataia Ionica al lu'Meloancă, Maia Lenuta lu'Ion, Lucrița lu'Ionica - as our grandparents were known in the village. A small gesture of gratitude to their memory!
