About

In the center of Runcu village, opposite to the cultural Home, there is the "Maria Apostol" Memorial House. Built in honor of the great popular music soloist, the building houses personal belongings, traditional objects from the Gorj area, but also the trophy won by her at the "Flower from the Garden" contest.

Maria Apostol made her musical debut at the tender age of 5, on the stage of the Runcu Cultural Home. Until the age of 14, he only won first place in all competitions held in the county. In 1973, at only 19 years old, while still a student at Peştișani High School, in a live televised show moderated by the famous teacher Mihai Florea, Maria Apostol obtained the "Flower in the Garden" Trophy, the highest national distinction awarded to a young artist. From the fall of 1973 until 1990, he was active in the "Romanian Rhapsody" Artistic Ensemble from Bucharest, with colleagues Aneta Stan, Elena Merişoreanu, Gheorghe Turda or Nelu Bălăşoiu.
