About
The "Maria Lătărețu" museum house in Bălcești village, was built by the "Maria Lătărețu" Cultural Association, with the help of several sponsors, in 2006. In 2010 it was transferred to the Gorj County patrimony and to the administration of the Gorj County Museum .
The building houses many personal objects of the great popular music artist of Romania, (b. November 7, 1911, Bălcești, Gorj — d. September 27, 1972, Botoșani), these being donated by Ioana Lătărețu, the daughter-in-law of the artist.
