About

Located in the Subcarpathians of Gorju, the Commune of Runcu is one of the most important of the county, both in terms of surface area and economically.

The first documentary attestation of the village of Runcu dates back to April 23, 1486, when Vlad the Monk mentioned it in a Christian book. Over time, the commune has evolved, and today it is a modern one, with a well-developed infrastructure and utilities available on its entire surface.

Wonderful creations of nature can be visited in the mountain area (caves, ravines, waterfalls, alpine pastures), but also in the spectacular area of the Sohodol Gorges.

Two of the most important personalities of Romanian cultural life were born in Runcu commune: Maria Apostol - popular music performer (winner of the "Flower from the Garden" trophy) and Ion Canavoiu - poet, prose writer, translator and epigramist.
Blessed by nature with a temperate-continental climate, the commune is dotted with forests, pastures, but also with hills cultivated with vines. The famous "Runcu wine" has started to gain ground and can be tasted on request even in Bucharest grocers.
We are waiting for you to visit our commune (physically or why not? online).
