About

The Botorogi Forest Nature Reserve is located in the Dănesti commune, Târgu-Jiu area, and covers an area of 106 hectares, protecting the typical floodplain forest with species of Fritillaria meleagris (checkered lily) and Convallaria majalis (lily of the valley).
The Checkered Lily (Fritillaria meleagris) - also known by the popular names of "Chess Flower", "Bibilica" or "Little Kettles" is protected by law both nationally and at European level, being declared a "natural monument".

Here, on an area of about 75 hectares, the grassland forest shelters this treasure of nature, which, in addition to the specific spontaneous flora, we were surprised and happy to find a very high density of this species from the lily family, practically covering the entire forest soil.
