About

The Ciucevele Cernei form a nationally protected area located in Gorj County, on the administrative territory of Padeș.

The natural area is located in the northwest corner of Gorj County, in the territory of the village of Cerna-Sat, in the upper valley of the Cerna River, between it and the Cărbunelui valley, at the western base of the Vâlcan Mountains.

The natural reserve, spread over an area of 1,166 hectares, represents an area of geological, floristic and landscape interest, with rocky meadow vegetation and southern species of trees; with a ruiniform relief (with rocky outcrops, limestone cliffs, outbursts) consisting of three limestone bodies.
