About

The Cotul cu Aluni Nature Reserve is a nationally protected area of category IV IUCN (botanical type nature reserve) located in Gorj county, in the territory of the city of Tismana. The natural area of Cotul cu Aluni is located in the northwest of the village of Topești near the Tismana Monastery (near county road 672A), between the Pârgavului valley and the Tismana river. The natural reserve declared as a protected area covers an area of 25 hectares and represents a forested area, with the purpose of protecting several species of trees, shrubs, and herbaceous vegetation.

The flora is composed of species such as hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), ash (Fraxinus), manna ash (Fraxinus ornus), European cornel (Cornus mas), Turkish hazel (Corylus colurna), and smoke tree (Cotinus coggyria).

At the level of the grasses, there are several floristic species of Mediterranean origin.
