The Susita Gorge is located in the southern part of the Vulcan Mountains. The Susita gorges were formed in crystalline schist, granite and limestone, under the action of the river Susita or Susita Verde. Susita Verde is formed below Straja Peak (1869 meters).

The Susita gorges are approximately two kilometers long, along which there are spectacular shapes, towers, chimneys, pyramids, underground hollows. Raul Susita also has its share of the show, set in the scene of rapids and waterfalls - among them the Vaidei Waterfall. Other interesting sights are the Tuturoi Gorge and Dan's Stones.

Cheile Susitei is located near Vaidei village, Stanciulesti commune, Gorj county, about 21 kilometers north of Targu Jiu; to get there follow DN 66 Târgu Jiu -Turcinesti – Vaidei – Cheile Susitei.
