About

The monument to Mihai Viteazul is located in Poiana lui Mihai, near Schela village, Gorj county and was erected in 1932.

The monument is made of stone and bronze and was built to mark the passage of Mihai the Brave on the road connecting Gorjul to Transylvania, through Pasul Vulcanului, at the end of November 1600.
The purpose of the trip to Vienna was to ask Emperor Rudolf II for help.

The monument to Mihai Viteazul from Schela is one of the most important tourist attractions in Oltenia, an objective you should not miss if you are nearby.
