About
In 1780, in a free peasants family, Tudor Vladimirescu was born, completing the family of 3 children. After learning the first notions of reading and writing in the village priest Pârvu Ciuhoi, Tudor continued his studies in Craiova, with the support of the boyar John Glogoveanu.
In memory of Tudor Vladimirescu, in 1932, through the efforts of the National League of Romanian Women from Gorj, led by Aretia Tătărescu, the Memorial House in his native village, Vladimir, was inaugurated. The peasant house with a wooden porch and two small rooms designed specifically for the beginning of the 19th century offers the visitor objects and documents related to the life of the revolutionary leader from 1821, Tudor Vladimirescu.
