About

The wooden church in Frâncești-Boașca, Peștişani, was built in 1823. It is dedicated to "Saint Gheorghe". The church is on the new list of historical monuments.
The wooden church in Boașca hamlet, Francești village was built in 1823, under the archpastorship of bishop P.S. Calinic (1823-1855), developed in size as it still exists today.

In 2002, an initiative group, made up of 18 founding members, established the Association of the Sons of the French Village in Gorj, who proposed as their objective the rehabilitation of the wooden church so that the place could be introduced into the tourist circuit and returned to religious activities. The members of the association started the action, the project being realized through own financing, from the contribution of the members of the association, donations and sponsorships.
